Get Ready to Launch Your Future

Brought to you by the Aerospace Innovation Center

If flying, planes, outer space, spaceships or computers sound exciting...a career in aerospace might be for you! Aviation careers can take many different directions, but most fall into two broad categories: aeronautics, which are occupations dealing with aircraft, and astronautics, which are occupations dealing with spacecraft.

If you dream of flying miles above the ground with sky as your road and the "cockpit" as your office, you may be a future pilot or astronaut. Some common types of careers include co-pilot, airline captain, flight instructor, corporate pilot, charter pilot, helicopter pilot, test pilot, agricultural pilot, and flight engineer.

Those who are science-minded and like to inquire how things work might be cut out to be an engineer or work in a division of aerospace manufacturing. These people design and develop airplanes that weigh over half a million pounds, spacecraft that travels in excess of 17,000 miles per hour as well as military fighter jets, helicopters, missiles and rockets. They also develop new technologies used in defense systems, space exploration and navigation...just to name a few.
